‘American Hustle’ Writer: Jennifer Lawrence Is ‘Like a Brick Through a Plate Glass Window, That’s How Solid She Is’

Who says writers are cranky? At WGAW’s “Behind the Screen” reception at the Capital Grille Oct. 10, overwhelming gratitude was the pervasive statement.

The annual event serves as the WGA’s kickoff to awards season.

“American Hustle” writer Eric Warren Singer allowed that he was thankful to Sony, producer Charles Roven, director David O. Russell and Jennifer Lawrence.

“Jennifer Lawrence is like a brick through a plate glass window.” he mused. “That’s how solid she is.”

“I have Tom Hanks and Paul Greengrass handling my script so I feel pretty secure,” noted “Captain Phillips” writer Billy Ray.

Scott Cooper, who wrote and directed the upcoming “Out of the Furnace,” asserted he was especially pleased that “Crazy Heart” star Jeff Bridges had proclaimed it as one of the best films he’s seen. “That meant a lot,” he added.
