The word is out and Facebook has given the notion they will go Mobile sometime next year. According to a post from WTVR.com Facebook has hired more than six “former Apple software and hardware engineers who worked on the iPhone, and one who worked on the iPad” to develop the new Facebook Mobile phone.
This news is coming just one week after their ‘not so impressive’ Initial Public Offering. Tech journalists and critics from around the blogosphere remain hesitant on whether or not Facebook will be able to create a useful mobile device.
The mobile market game is currently not one of Facebook’s strong points. The truth is, none is going to back the success of a new mobile device, especially after what Facebook has done in this first week of trading.
Frankly, as Techcrunch reports “It will be a miracle if The Facebook Phone Doesn’t Suck.” This will be the third time Facebook has tried to get their mobile strategy up and running.
And as the people say, the third time is a charm…right? What do you think? Does Facebook have a chance in the mobile retail business or is it all just smoke and mirrors?
